Bespoke Wooden Stables - built to last, designed for you

When it comes to timber stables, no two owners or yards are the same. That’s why every stable block we build is bespoke — designed around your needs and preferences. We regularly build:

  • Small stable blocks for private owners
  • Livery yard stable blocks with feed rooms and wash bays
  • Timber stables with wash bays, hay barns and secure tack storage
  • Mobile stable blocks on skids – perfect for flexible grazing setups
  • L-shaped, U-shaped and straight-run stable layouts

Got something a bit different in mind? We’re happy to create custom configurations or modify any part of the build to suit your horses or setup.

Why Choose Timber Stables?

Timber is a natural and resilient material that’s ideal for horses. It helps regulate temperature and humidity, keeping your horses more comfortable all year round. Our timber is sustainably sourced and pressure treated for long life — so your stable stays solid, safe and smart-looking for years to come.

Compared to brick or block-built stables, timber offers:

  • Faster installation times
  • More flexibility in design
  • Easier maintenance and modification
  • A more traditional, countryside aesthetic
  • more forgiving material for horses that kick
  • easier and cheaper repairs

We have lots of useful planning advice for building stables and can help to guide you through a planning application.

Wooden stables - Built with Quality Materials

We are horse owners ourselves and our team has decades of experience designing and building stables.

Our wooden stables and timber stable blocks are built to last and to stand up to the daily rigours of equestrian life. In fact, we are so confident that we guarantee all of our timber stables for 5 years.

Every Olson stable is made using high-grade, pressure-treated and sustainably sourced timber for structural strength and durability. We use galvanised fittings, heavy-duty kickboards, and robust framing throughout — because your stable needs to work day in, day out.

Need something more flexible? Our mobile stables for horses are built on heavy-duty timber or metal skids, allowing you to reposition them as needed.

Do I need planning permission for wooden stables?

Yes, fixed or static wooden stables will generally require planning permission from your local authority. This depends on:

We recommend checking with your local planning authority or consulting a planning consultant.
