Easy, safe and secure indoor stabling

Keeping your horses in an American barn brings with it many benefits, you are covered whilst mucking out and feeding in colder winter months, protected from chill winds, rain and snow. There efficiency gains having all your horses next door to each other and technical details such as drainage can be easier as everything points to one location.

Designing an American Barn to suit your exact needs is part of the joy of being able to design your own stable block. We work with you to create a barn that suits you, your horses and the land to it will be built on. Clients needs vary and we understand this, larger horses may want extra large stables, foaling boxes, multiple wash bays or a staff kitchen area can be easily accommodated.

Working with Olson to design an American Barn brings with it years of experience, a wealth of knowledge from where to position your feed store and the best ventilation solutions for air movement to security and options for a livery yard set up.

Roofing Options

Our timber buildings are available with a range of roofing options. Below are the different types of roofing material that you can choose between. Most of our standard building specifications include Onduline or are finished ready for tiling by a roofing specialist.

Onduline
Onduline

A durable and easy to install roofing option, onduline is ideal for stables and garages.

Onduline

Available in several colours, these corrugated sheets are made from recycled fibres that are then saturated with bitumen under controlled pressure and heat conditions. The result is a uniform, hardwearing roof backed by a 15-year manufacturers guarantee. The colours are impregnated into the material so do not require maintenance. The only thing you need to do is keep the leaves off and clear the gutters. This is our standard roof for stables as it has the ability to deaden the sound of rain.

The sister product to Onduline, Onduvilla is similar in being made from recycled fibres but is in an overlapping tile format (installed as sheets). The roof is coloured with variations to replicate the look of a clay tiled roof. With a 15-year manufacturer guarantee, this lightweight roofing material is laid over a boarded roof and can installed on any of our building ranges.

Adding a clear sheet to the roof of a timber building allows natural daylight to flood into the space and makes it brighter for both animals and humans. This option can only be combined with Onduline roofing. Many of our buildings include one or more clear roofing sheets (depending upon the size of the building) but you can specify additional clear sheets.
