Mobile Stables For horses

Mobile stables are a great, flexible stabling option because they offer the freedom to relocate stables and may even eliminate the need for planning permission.

Our mobile stables are strong and durable, yet lightweight enough to be moved with ease by a 4x4 or small tractor. Built to shelter your horses all year round, an Olson mobile stable is the perfect alternative to static stables.

Our mobile stables are constructed using the same robust timber and heavy duty 4” x 2” (100mm x 50mm) pressure-treated framing as our static horse stables, but instead of being installed on a concrete base, they're mounted onto either pressure-treated timber skids or galvanised steel skids.

All of our mobile stables come with the following features as standard:

Mobile Stable Sizes & configurations

Our mobile stables are available as a single stable, double stable or triple mobile stable block.

We can also combine stable boxes with a tack room, hay store or feed room to make, for example a double mobile stable with a tack room or a single mobile stable with a hay store and tack room - we can even combine a mobile stable with mobile field shelter, as in the adjacent example.

These combination stable blocks are particularly popular, offering a great, self-contained building with stabling and storage.

Mobile Stable Features

Our mobile stables are designed to your specification, so you can choose from a number of different options, including roofing, cladding, internal lining/kickboarding and other features.

Upgrade options include:

The standard skids are pressure treated timber, however we also offer galvanised steel skids. If you choose a triple mobile stable block or combination building of the same size, then it must be built on our metal skids.

Do mobile stables need securing to the ground?

Our mobile stables are robustly designed and built to withstand strong winds, featuring:

Heavy duty and sturdy construction.
Thicker framing compared to many alternatives.
Metal or timber skids for stability.

However, if extra stability is desired, we recommend using Spirafix ground screws for securing the stable to the ground.

What features can be added to mobile stables?

We use sustainably sourced timber from FSC-certified sawmills and suppliers, featuring:

Pressure-treated softwood timber for durability.
A choice of shiplap or weatherboard cladding.

What sizes are available for mobile stables?

We offer mobile stables in the following sizes:

Single Stable: 3.6m x 3.6m
Double Stable: 7.0m x 3.6m (metal skids) or 7.3m x 3.6m (timber skids)
Triple Stable: 10.9m x 3.6m

We also offer combination units, which include options for tack rooms, feed rooms, or hay stores.

Can mobile stables be moved easily?

Yes, our mobile stables are designed for easy mobility, featuring:

Built-in skids.
A towing chain.
Compatibility with compact tractors or 4x4 vehicles.

Do mobile stables require planning permission?

Generally, mobile stables do not require planning permission if:

They are moved periodically.
They do not have a permanent base.

However, requirements can vary depending on location and size, so we always advise checking with your local planning authority.

Can I include a feed room, tack room, or hay store?

Yes, our combination mobile stables allow you to include:

Tack room
Feed room
Hay store

These can be incorporated into either single or double stable configurations.

What types of roofing do you offer?

Our roofing options for mobile stables include:

Onduline (standard option) – lightweight, durable, and long-lasting.
Onduvilla
Tapco slate-effect tiles

What's the difference between a mobile stable and a mobile field shelter?

A mobile stable is similar to a traditional stable block but built on skids instead of a concrete base. It includes stable doors and internal partitions.

A mobile field shelter has large front openings and typically no internal partitions, offering shelter without the enclosed structure of a stable.

Is delivery and installation included?

Installation is always included, unless you choose a DIY option. Delivery is free within much of the South East and Home Counties such as Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Essex, Hertfordshire, Kent, Surrey and Sussex and whilst we deliver and install nationwide, we calculate the delivery cost based upon your location. We would be happy to let you know how much delivery is, just get in touch.
