A timber carriage house is a barn-style open-fronted garage, typically made with pressure-treated softwood or oak. With their rustic appeal and practical open bays, they’re ideal for:

We build our carriage houses from sustainably sourced timber, using high-grade pressure-treated softwood or oak framing, depending on your preference. They’re robust, long-lasting structures made to withstand the elements and built to your exact needs. Choose from a range of finishing options including:

As a barn-style building, a carriage house or car barn is highly flexible with either open parking bays, enclosed bays with double garage doors or a combination of both. We can even add a recessed front wall with a door and window to create a self-contained workshop. We offer a range of widths and lengths for garaging even the largest of 4x4 and SUVs, as well as providing storage space or workshop area.

Do I need planning permission for my timber building?

Planning requirements can be complex and we always recommend speaking with your local authority planning office or a planning consultant. However, some of the basic principles can be found in our guide to planning here.

Do I need a foundation for my timber building?

All timber buildings should be raised off the ground, even our mobile field shelters and stables sit on skids. Our static timber buildings need to be built upon a concrete pad and a single course of bricks. See our guide to groundworks here. We don't undertake the groundworks ourselves, but we can recommend a professional contractor to complete them for you.

What types of roofing do you offer?

What quality of timber do you use?

We use sustainably sourced timber from FSC certified sawmills and suppliers. All external softwood timber is pressure treated to preserve the timber. See more about our timber here.

Do you guarantee your buildings?

We offer a five-year workmanship guarantee on all our buildings. This guarantee doesn't include materials, timber, parts, fixtures or fittings. See more about our workmanship guarantee here.

Is delivery and installation included?

Installation is always included, unless you choose a DIY option. Delivery is free within Kent, and whilst we deliver and install nationwide, we calculate the delivery cost based upon your location. We would be happy to let you know how much delivery is, just get in touch.

Do you cover the whole of the UK?

Yes, we cover the whole of the UK, offering nationwide delivery and installation.
